Paper Mache Contest - Mordine B. reported that she has a judge lined up for the Student Art competition and the Paper Mache contest. Mordine B. has contacted McDonald’s to put Paper Mache trophies in their display case.

Old Business:
Collette noted that she will contact Lisa Heckman, of Tillie’s Sunshine, to find out if she has any interest in walking festival grounds as discussed at the last meeting. Lisa is a professional Clown.
As noted at the last meeting, a massage therapist contacted Jenny about setting up a massage chair at the festival. Discussion was held concerning how this could be handled. It was suggested not to charge the therapist for a space. A possibility of donations being accepted and then 50% of the proceeds going to the Arts Festival was discussed. Jenny will check with the massage therapist to see if this would be acceptable.
Candy C. asked at last meeting about a caricature artist setting up a booth at Festival. She also had questions regarding her Security crew. Kelly will try to contact her and find out if she was able to resolve these questions with Thiry and Paul.
Jenna M. volunteered to help in the Public Relations department. She said she is willing to do public service announcements on the radio. Jenny L. said she can write the PSA’s for Jenna.
Paul is in charge of programs. The Sentinel designs the programs. Jenna M. volunteered to get the necessary information to the Sentinel. She will talk to Paul O. about what she needs to do.
Collette asked if anyone has information on certificates for donations given by businesses. A letter went out this year to area businesses, however the council needs to know if any donations have been received and if there are certificates made up for these donations. Becca will be contacted to find out if she has received any of these donations.
New Business:
Discussion about skate boarder demonstrations at next year’s festival. This could possibly draw new and different patrons.
A suggestion was made to ask the Sentinel to do a segment on their public opinion page asking the question, “What is your favorite thing about the Arts Festival?”
Collette C. and Kelly S. met with Sherri Shoemaker, of the Mifflin County Human Services department. She is looking for community members to start an Arts Education program in Mifflin and Juniata counties. The program is to be funded with DCED monies. She was not aware that there was already an Arts Council in place in the Mifflin-Juniata area. She noted that she had met with 30 people willing to volunteer time and resources to the arts. She will make these people aware that there is an Arts Council in existence and that we are sorely in need of volunteers and leaders for the Arts Festival.
There will be a booth manned by Arts Council members at Kid Connection on April 28th from 9 AM to 2 PM. We will provide a kids’ craft and have publicity materials available to handout regarding the Festival. Volunteers needed.
The Bell Festival will be held April 29th at Indian Valley High School at 3 PM.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Kelly Sunderland
